The Il-Wied Farmhouse
is a fully furnished
genuine country house which combines rustic charm with modern comfort.
his farmhouse forms part of the G & J Holiday Complex which
is located in the outskirts of Victoria, just 5 minutes away from the centre
and near to all amenities. There is a choice of two restaurants less than 200 metres
away. All beaches in Gozo are only 5 minutes away.
This farmhouse is larger than either the
Andar or the Mejda farmhouses as this farmhouse boasts 5 bedrooms and can
accommodate a total of 10 persons with ease and in comfort. This
farmhouse also has an adjoining door with the Tal-Andar farmhouse. Although
this door is kept strictly closed normally, in the case of a party of guests
who are greater than ten in number, then this door can be left open so that
the guests can intermingle and use both farmhouses.
Entering through the
door in the above left photo one finds himself in the very large
pool-side area embellished with a pool-side shower, the pool itself which is 29
feet by 16 feet (8.84m by 4.88m), relaxing sun-lounging chairs for
relaxing by the pool, a gas-barbeque and al-fresco dining facilities to
cater for all ten persons including an umbrella to provide shade. From the
pool-side one can also see the North face of medieval Citadel and most of Gelmus hill.
The
farmhouse proper is accessed through a door opposite the entrance door. One
enters an open-plan lounge, dining and a fully equipped kitchen. The lounge part consists of
two very comfortable couches and there is a 28 inch cable TV for the guests' entertainment.
The dining area consists of a rustic-style table that can easily accommodate ten
persons.
At the other side of this
large area one finds the large comfortable kitchen equipped with a 4-hob cooking
unit, a large oven a large fridge-freezer and a toaster. In the cupboards one
finds enough cooking-pans and all the cutlery and cover necessary for
ten-persons. Hot and cold water is available throughout the
farmhouse.
The furniture is pine throughout.
The bedrooms are to be found
at either end of this main living area.
The bedroom configuration caters for all tastes since there
are two double bedrooms, one triple bedroom, one twin bedroom and one single bedroom
all for our guests's use. this means that this farmhouse can accommodate up to
ten persons in great comfort.
There are two bathrooms, each comprising a shower, W.C. and a vanity wash-hand basin. One bathroom is
also equipped with a washing machine for our guests use.
At the back of this farmhouse one can enjoy a
countryside view (see above photo on the right) from a terrace, which also
overlooks a small garden.
The
Tal-Wied farmhouse can be your base to discover Gozo -
the idyllic "isle of
Calypso" on the Homer trail, as well as the home of Ggantija - the
oldest megalithic temples in the world: The citation in the Guiness Book of Records.
states: "The oldest free standing
structures in the world are now believed to be the megalithic temples at
Ggantija in Gozo - from 3,600 B.C."
Although the Tal-Wied can
accommodate up to ten persons very comfortably, there will be no problem if you
are a larger group since this farmhouse can be joined with its twin the
"Tal-Andar" farmhouse through a door from the pool area - which is
normally locked for complete privacy. A special price will be quoted if both
farmhouses are rented at the same time.
